Goodbye Pop

Last Tuesday we said goodbye to my partners beautiful Pop.  With no surviving grandparents of my own, I have been privileged to call him Pop for the last 11 years.

Candle - Pop

My nephew, Ryan, and I lit the candle during the service.

At 89 years of age, he lived a full and wonderful life, and passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family.

We take comfort knowing that he is watching down on us, and keeping the grass green up there.

Thanks for stopping by.

Butterfly Gift Cards

I was wasting time researching on Pinterest the other day and came across these gorgeous 3×3 cards by Jill Franchett, and knew they would be perfect to pop in with some orders I needed to deliver.

Express Yourself 001 - Group

I whipped up a bunch of them in no time at all, and my ladies LOVED them!

Express Yourself 001

It’s so good to be reminded that I really don’t need to over think and over complicate things all the time!  Thanks for the inspiration Jill!

It was My Digital Studio (MDS) to the rescue for me to complete this challenge!

I kept everything super simple, but I was really pleased with how this turned out.  Not too bad for my second MDS attempt, and my second ever scrapbook page!  Who knows….I may get really adventurous next time and use some stamps!

April SCS Creative Crew Holiday Focus

Create a card, an ensemble, a scrapbook page or a decor item for one of the following holidays:

Earth Day

Historic Garden Week

National Egg Salad Week

Go Fly A Kite Day (3rd Sunday in April)

This one was a no brainer for me!  I needed Easter presents for Dylan’s teachers as well as the bus driver and chaperone who take him to and from school each day, so was more than happy to kill two birds with one stone!

Window Treat Box Front

How super cute is that box???  I am so in love with it!  I followed the Window Treat Box tutorial on Splitcoaststampers.  Super easy!

Window Treat Box Side

This one made in Coastal Cabana is my favourite, but I made them in all of the 2013-2015 In Colours, and they all looked great!  I finished them off just as I was running out the door to go to school for the last day of term assembly, so I didn’t manage to get a photo of them all together.  I’m thinking these will be great filled with different chocolates and a Mother’s Day sentiment on them, so you may see more of these ones yet!

SU-Creative-CrewWhether it be with an ink pad and aqua painter, markers, watercolour pencils, making a background or dying something, what can you do with water and ink?

I love to colour in!  As soon as I saw this challenge I knew exactly what stamp set I would be using!

SU, Stampin' Up!, Mel Sharp, Pleasant Poppies, Itty Bitty Banners, Handmade, Birthday Card, Watercolour

I love the Pleasant Poppies background stamp!  Those poppies are just beautiful, and I love colouring them in!  I used a blender pen and ink pads to colour with.  The darker poppy was coloured onto watercolour paper, cut out and popped up on a dimensional.

SU, Stampin' Up! Mel Sharp, Handmade, Birthday Card, Bring On The Cake

I love how this card turned out!  It would make a beautiful sympathy card, or a fantastic Mother’s Day card too!

April SCS Creative Crew DSP/Colour Focus Challenge

SU-Creative-CrewOur April DSP/Colour Focus Challenge is to use the Watercolor Wonder Designer Series Paper, or the colours of Daffodil Delight, Gumball Green, Island Indigo, Smoky Slate, & Tangerine Tango.

I’ve chosen to use the Watercolor Wonder DSP for my card.

Perfect Pennants 001 Front

I finally cracked open my Hexagon Hive Framelits for this card.  I can’t believe how long it took me to get around to using it!  I love this effect with the DSP showing through the die cut layer!

Perfect Pennants 001 Inside

I love these cute little flowers from the Petite Petals stamp set.  They have added the perfect finishing touch to my card.

Crack open your Watercolor Wonder DSP and come play along with our challenge!  Upload your creation over at Splitcoaststampers using the keyword CCREW0414DF.  Don’t forget to check out the awesome inspiration by the Design Team in the April Creative Crew Challenge Gallery!

Color Me Christmas

Yep, I know…..Christmas already???  I am making one Christmas card each week with a lovely group of ladies, so thought I would pop in to share what we will be making this week.

Color Me Christmas 001 Front

I resisted this super cute stamp set for so long, and when I finally gave in and brought it I ran out of time to use it!  I was so glad to get it out and ink it up!

My card is inspired by this card by Heather Summers.  I love her card, but still needed to make this one my own :)

Color Me Christmas 001 Inside

I so enjoyed colouring in the stockings!  It’s been ages since I have done any colouring, but I just might be getting the bug again!

Have you started on your Christmas cards yet?

Crosses of Hope

When one of my lovely stamping ladies (Hi Gina!) said she needed to make a baptism card for a boy I knew I didn’t have any stamps in my stash that fit the bill.  My Digital Studio (MDS) to the rescue!  A couple of clicks later I had purchased and downloaded the Crosses Of Hope digital stamp brush set, and I was set to go!

Crosses of Hope 001 Front

I have kept it super simple…that gorgeous cross needed to be my focal point!

Crosses of Hope 001 Inside

I love how simple it is to make the cross smaller in MDS to include on the inside of my card!

Hope you like this one Gina!

March SCS Creative Crew Holiday Focus

SU-Creative-CrewThere are 3 holidays in a row in March: St. Urho’s Day (March 16), St. Patrick’s Day (March 17) and Jana’s birthday (one of the fabulous SU Creative Crew challenge hostesses)! For this challenge, make a birthday card in purple (for St. Urho) or green (for St. Patrick). Use a technique or layout that you love!

Field Flowers 004 Front

I’ve gone with a purple card, but there’s a touch of green in there too!  The technique I love, but seem to forget about, is 2 step stamping.  You are always guaranteed to get a wow result with this simple technique!

Field Flowers 004 Inside

I have kept the inside simple, letting that gorgeous flower do all the talking!
