June SCS Creative Crew Holiday Focus

SU-Creative-CrewIn line with our Anything Goes theme this month, our Holiday Focus challenge is to celebrate your favourite holiday with a new technique.

I decided that I would use masking as my new technique.  I love layers, and it is very rare for me to make a card that is fairly flat.  I masked off the top and bottom of my card, and set to work making a Christmas card.

Snowflake Soiree 001 - Front

I love how this turned out!  I stamped my snowflakes from the Snowflake Soiree stamp set and embossed them with clear embossing powder, then sponged Bermuda Bay over the top.  I then scored lines to highlight my masked area with my Simply Scored.

Snowflake Soiree 001 - Inside

I went super simple for the inside, and just added my sentiment.

Stippled Blossoms Guest Stamper

At the last class I held before Stampin’ Up!’s Inspire Create Share Convention we made the Stippled Blossoms card I posted a few weeks ago.  You can see the original here.  Amy asked to make it again in different colours, so we pulled out Crisp Cantaloupe and Calypso Coral, and here is her masterpiece.

Stippled Blossoms - Amy

The other ladies in the class all loved the colour choice, and we are making it in these colours today.  I’m quite looking forward to it, I think I like it better in these colours than in the purples!

Short and sweet again today, I’ve got to finish getting ready for today’s class!

Secret Garden Guest Stamper

Deb attended my Christmas Collectibles Stamp A Stack on Friday night but didn’t need the Christmas Cards for her stash, so she got busy with the Secret Garden stamp set, some vellum and sponge daubers, and this is what she came up with!

Secret Garden By Deb

Deb made 6 of these cards, in pinks, purples and yellows, and they are all just as gorgeous as this one!

I’m really looking forward to sitting down and casing her card!

Thanks Deb, for allowing me to pop your card up on my blog!

Just Believe

While checking out all the lovely creations on the internet yesterday I came across this card by Brenda Keenan using the faux embossing technique.  Make sure you check it out, because Brenda has also filmed a tutorial on this technique 🙂  Here’s my version of Brenda’s card.

Just Believe 001 Front

I can’t wait to get my hands on the Baked Brown Sugar that Brenda used for her card, but in the mean time, I made do with Crumb Cake 🙂

Just Believe 001 Inside

I am really pleased with how this turned out, and can’t wait to teach the faux embossing technique to my regular stamping ladies.

I’m not sure what made me put a sympathy sentiment on my card, but I’m glad I did, as the man who drives my son’s school bus told me this morning that his mum passed away yesterday, so I will give this card to him this afternoon.

On a brighter note…..

The Make a Monster card I posted on Sunday was a top 3 pick for Mary Jo’s Monday Lunchtime Sketch Challenge!

Thanks for stopping by.

Pinwheel Birthday

I’m still catching up on cards I haven’t shared yet, and today’s card was made for my sister-in-law’s birthday back in January 🙂
